Hello, I'm Sarah and I'm based in the hot, lush, tropical Southeast Asia country named Malaysia. I created StudioSbakri for the wanderlust people who love and appreciate the beauty of Asian pattern and design.

While travelling, I connected with people who have had the pleasure of visiting Asia, but sadly didn't get to bring home a token of their stay. One friend said they didn't have enough time to shop, another one said they didn't know where to shop for beautiful, locally made items.

Another friend of mine expressed that she didn't like the generic, standard items sold at souvenir shops and at the airport. They were tacky, too ethic-looking, poorly made and can be seen everywhere. It just wasn't special enough. 

I totally get it. Who wants another basic keychain or fridge magnet? Is this just another machine-made-plastic-slapped-with-some-gaudy-design made in China?

To me, a souvenir should be special. When I visit another country I'd like to take home with me a beautifully made, locally made item that'll remind me of my fun vacation. Something unique that carries the essence and feel of the place I visited.

Something one-of-a-kind, that can only be found in secluded non touristy places. Something exquisite that symbolises the culture of the people. Something made by master artisans, crafted with knowledge that's passed down from generations.

Something modern and different, a pattern that you've never seen before. A picture or illustration that reflects the colorful colours and curves of Asia. I see inspiration in every corner I look right here in Malaysia. There's so many beauty all around us.
